The museum is pleased to offer educational tours throughout the year at no charge.
The museum is located on the Main Channel of Los Angeles Harbor. Students will have a front-row opportunity to see the massive container ships in action and learn about international trade, ship terminology, sailor’s art, and the history of the working people who built Los Angeles Harbor into the nation’s busiest container port.
Tours are free for grades K-12, Wednesday–Friday mornings, and reservations are REQUIRED. The museum is unable to accommodate group tours without a reservation.
For adult tour groups, there is a suggested donation of $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors. Donations allow the museum to keep the children’s tours free. Thank you for your support!
As of fall, 2002, the Port of Los Angeles Boat Tour program has returned! Teachers who wish to combine a museum tour with a boat tour must do the following 1) schedule their boat tour at www.portoflosangeles.org/boat-tours AND 2) book a museum tour by calling 310-548-2900 or emailing info@lamaritimemuseum.org. The museum tours are available Wednesday- Friday 9am to noon.
Our tours are customized for each grade level, led by trained Museum Guides, and the tour content supports the State of California education standards.
Please note that unguided school groups are not permitted in the museum.
We look forward to your visit!
