After author Mark Rozelle discovered his grandmother’s archives containing hundreds of photographs, documents, and ephemera, he spent over a decade researching the history of his family who lived on a 114-acre ranch along the Los Angeles River.  Learn how the Rozelles overcame droughts, floods, earthquakes, and the Great Depression, as the river brought them both wealth and tribulation. This event has been postponed, new date TBD. Maritime historian, boat builder, author and sailor Olaf Engvig introduces the history of the “Scandinavian Navy”, its impact on the U.S. lumber trade, and his 30-year fight against vandals and bureaucracy to save one of the last lumber schooners. Admission is free. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. Engvig's book may be purchased at engvig.com.
