“A Machine to Move Ocean and Earth” Book Signing

The Los Angeles Maritime Museum is proud to host Professor James Tejani of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for a book signing on Saturday, October 12 at 1pm in the Museum’s Brass Room.

A Machine to Move Ocean and Earth: the Making of the Port of Los Angeles – And America is his latest work, a well-researched and engaging history of the Port of Los Angeles, chronicles how a shallow mudflat developed into one of the world’s leading ports and provides insights into the lives of the men and women who shaped (and were shaped by) its history. 

Professor Tejani, who grew up in the San Pedro area and earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University, has had a long fascination with Port history. The presentation is free, but seating is limited.  The hardcover book will be available at the Sea Chest Museum Shop for $35.00 (members receive a 10% discount).
