During World War II the Queen Mary was converted into a troopship and given the nickname "Grey Ghost" due to her grey paint.
Description of Photograph:
A model of the Queen Mary, used in the filming of "The Poseidon Adventure", is on display at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum.
Background Information:
The Queen Mary has an interesting history. This retired ocean liner was originally built for the Cunard Line in 1936 where she sailed from Southampton, England to New York until 1967. Today the Queen Mary remains in Long Beach, California as a floating hotel and tourist attraction.
