The all—weather E—2B Hawkeye functions as the "Eyes of the Fleet." Utilizing its long range search radar and advanced electronics system, the crew of five provides airborne early warning for the fleet, coordinates and controls airborne fighter and attack assists, and advises Fleet Commanders of the current surface and air situation — From postcard.
Background Information:
The current American Navy originated in 1775 with a small Continental Navy used during the American Revolution to fight the British. Today the US Navy is one of the largest in the world, with over 300,000 personnel, many different types of ships, including frigates, aircraft carriers, and submarines.
