Description of Photograph:
This ferry was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Company in San Francisco in 1927; the vessel lasted until 2007, when its steel hull had rusted beyond repair.
Background Information:
Ferry boats carried people across bodies of water, usually between coastal cities and islands. There are several types of ferries, including Hydrofoil, pontoon, and cable ferries. This ferry was classified as a Steel Electric ferry when it was built in 1927.
