Our newest exhibit: "The Great Harbor: San Pedro to Long Beach". The exhibit features 24 original paintings by Southern California-based artists Bernard Fallon, Timothy Geisen, Stephen Mirich, and Jacques Valin. The paintings capture beauty in everyday scenes on the waterfront. Subjects range from San Pedro fishing boats and the Vincent Thomas Bridge to an aerial portrait of brightly-colored shipping containers, entitled "Tom’s View"
The exhibit will run through Sunday, July 11, 2005.
About the artists:
Bernard Fallon grew up in England and attended the Liverpool College of Art and Leicester University's School of Photography. His work is held in collections in the United States and abroad.
Timothy Geisen became a protégé of the noted artist Charles LaMonk (1910-1986) when he was only 13. Focusing on art while attending college, he entered into a successful twenty-year career in outdoor advertising as a pictorial and scenic artist.
Stephen Mirich’s work is influenced by the sounds of the harbor he knew as a boy: fog horns, tugboat whistles, railroad cars banging and the clatter of ships unloading cargo. Today he travels across the United States and throughout Europe for his inspirations and is a respected teacher and exhibitor.
Jacques J. Valin, trained as an architect, was born and educated in France. In 1955 he moved to California, where he spent his career with Walt Disney Productions. Now retired, he devotes most of his time to oil painting outdoors, (en plein air) as often as possible. Harbor scenes are among his favorite subjects.
