Dates: 1888-1966. (bulk dates 1939 – 1966).

Physical characteristics: Original hand-colored and pen and ink illustrations, documents, artifacts of diving
Abstract: Collection of books decorated by Windas, his original pen and ink illustrations published in the 1930s and 1940s, a scrapbook created from found materials.
Biographical Notes:
Cedric Windas was an illustrator known between the World Wars and after for his portrayal of Navy life and customs. His original gouache paintings are affixed to books by means of transparent sticky tape. He created a large scrapbook and its cover, completed in 1957. His drawings for a book published under the title, “Traditions of the Navy”, are featured in this collection, which can also be viewed in issues of the magazine “Our Navy”, 1939-1946, held in our periodical collection. The collection is available for research under supervision only, due to the fragility of the works.
